By Mike Kirchgessner How long do you think you’re going to play football, most till they are 18, some till they are 22, for one till he is 50! December Lamb started playing football at Woodward High School back in 1975. 90% of the players today were not even born when Lamb started putting on his famous white cleats! Lamb graduated from Woodward High School in 1979 before starting his 29 year run in Semi-Professional football. After his playing days at Woodward, Lamb gave his effort to the theater at Central State before finding his home again on the Grid Iron, since then Lamb has gone on to play for 15 different teams since he started with the Cincinnati Jets in 1981 where he was the rookie of the year, and the world of semi-Pro football has never been the same. As a player Lamb has won his fair share of games, championships, and awards. He won his first championship in 1986 with the Jets and then again in 1990 with the Pin-Haus Strikers. He has been a league all-star an amazing 18 times over his career and was the MEFL League Defensive MVP in 1995 with the Cincinnati Falcons. His versatility has been amazing over the years playing just about every position on the field, he will be remembered though as a fearless wide receiver that could take over a game at any given moment. Needing to get more out of football Lamb started his own teams and had gone on to own, coach, and play for his later teams. “Lamb is the ambassador of Cincinnati semi pro football. He has given hundreds of guys the chance to continue their football careers” says Head Coach Tony Bray of the Xtreme one of Lambs players and coaches of yester year. You would be hard pressed to find a team today that does not originate from a December Lamb team. Today Lamb is playing for the nationally ranked Kentucky Wolverines from Hardin County, and looks forward to playing against his son Jeremy Greer a rookie 6’3 173lbs wide receiver for the Tri-State Sharks who is proving that the apple didn’t fall to far from the tree. “2009 is going to be an exciting year” says Lamb at a Cincinnati Hall of Fame meeting last month, an organization that he founded and is making sure is set up for the future by adding all of the owners and coaches to the Board of Directors and helping it become a 501c3. Lamb truly has changed the game of Semi-Professional football in Cincinnati and if there was a God Father of Semi-Pro football December Lamb would be it.
