All-Star fullback hangs up his cleats! | |

Most of you who played against
him, probably don't remember #22 much less the players who didn't. That's
because Doug Earley just went out and did his job. He very rarely had any
big time plays by most standards, but he always came up big for the
Fire...a clutch reception on a potential game winning drive...picking up a
much needed 3rd and 2...blasting through the line to open up a hole. He never did anything to standout...except play
QB when asked...fill in at LB when asked...play special teams when other
guys were too tired...all the while, doing his own job. Even more, he was
a coaches dream...he was always at practice and games and always on
time...one of the first to pay his dues...Doug did whatever coaches asked
(I guess that's why he was a two time captain for the Fire). A husband and father of two boys (and a girl on the
way), a United Stats Marine, pee wee football coach and a damn good
man...The Fire are going to miss a complete team player like #22 Doug
Earley! |
